Event Recap
Friday night’s WWE SmackDown from the Scope Arena in Norfolk, Virginia delivered a mixed bag of energetic matches, beatdowns that weren’t really matches and a couple of finishes that left fans debating on social media. Sami Zayn kicked it off with a spirited United States Title defense against Rey Fénix in a match that had enough pace and near‑falls to keep the crowd hot, and Zayn walked out with his belt still shining. Unfortunately, what was supposed to follow in the form of Giulia vs. B‑FAB didn’t actually happen as Giulia ambushed her before the bell, turning it into a beatdown that left the audience more frustrated than entertained. The Women’s Championship bout between Tiffany Stratton and Jade Cargill was a throw‑down that ended in a draw after they both tumbled out of the ring and couldn’t re‑enter in time, meaning Stratton kept her title without a clean pinfall. That kind of finish gives some people goosebumps while making others groan. The night rounded out with a good, old‑fashioned slugfest between Drew McIntyre and Randy Orton, with McIntyre hitting his Claymore Kick for a solid win that felt earned and gave him momentum. All in all, the show wasn’t perfect but it had spark, tension and enough physicality to keep fans talking all weekend.

Summary
In a lively opener that had the Scope Arena buzzing, Sami Zayn answered his U.S. Title open challenge against Rey Fénix and turned it into a back‑and‑forth battle. Fénix came out explosive, using springboard offense and flashes of lucha flair to keep Zayn off balance early. Zayn ate a few kick combos but slowly grounded Fénix with methodical counters until he finally hit a Blue Thunder Bomb that looked like it might end the match. Fénix kicked out, forcing Zayn to dig deeper, and he eventually connected with a Helluva Kick for the pinfall. It wasn’t perfectly clean wrestling poetry, but it felt like a real title defense and Zayn kept his belt in a match that was energetic even if the finish was classic WWE formula.

Summary
his one never really got going as a proper match because Giulia attacked B‑FAB during her entrance. B‑FAB barely got a chance to get into the ring before Giulia dumped her with a brutal early strike and beat her down with ferocity that suggested Giulia has no patience for slow build‑ups. Officials tried to separate them but Giulia kept up the assault, and what was supposed to be a competitive undercard bout instead turned into an all‑out beatdown that left B‑FAB dazed on the floor. In short, no real contest took place, and it felt like WWE just scrambled this segment into something meaner than a scheduled match.

Summary
The women’s title match was a physical slobberknocker between Tiffany Stratton and Jade Cargill that did not end cleanly. Both women had their moments, trading stiff strikes and high‑impact moves that brought serious energy from the crowd. Cargill looked like she might steal it when she hit a big fallaway slam and flexed with confidence, but Stratton wasn’t out of it, hitting a series of lariats and a senton that nearly scored. The match ultimately ended in a double count‑out when both competitors went over the top rope and were slow to return, so Stratton retained. A draw finish is always risky, and this one felt like WWE almost wanted a decisive ending but chickened out.

Summary
This clash between two veterans brought the kind of hard strikes and tense pacing you want from a big grudge fight. Randy Orton controlled the early exchanges, chopping McIntyre and working over his back with methodical precision, but McIntyre absorbed the punishment and roared back with heavy boots and a big tilt‑a‑whirl backbreaker that shifted the momentum. Mid match there were stiff forearms, countered suplex attempts and Orton’s signature snap powerslam that kept the crowd invested. In the end, McIntyre hit his Claymore Kick after ducking an RKO attempt and scored the pinfall. The win felt like a legit big victory and gave McIntyre a bit of momentum heading into the live event season.
