Event Recap
Friday’s WWE SmackDown (8/22/25) broadcast from the 3Arena in Dublin was a delightful jumble of hype, hometown heat and the kind of chaotic moments that make you both cheer and shrug at the same time. The show kicked off with Becky Lynch getting a hometown pop as she opened up the night, though her later tag match didn’t go great as Tiffany Stratton and Jade Cargill ended up getting the win over Becky and Nia Jax, making you love “The Man” even more but also kinda wince at how she left her partner hanging. The tag division churned out some solid stuff too — Melo Don’t Miz stole a victory over Motor City Machine Guns thanks to The Miz grabbing a sneaky pin, and The Street Profits finally notched a much‑needed W against Tonga Loa & JC Mateo with help from Jimmy Uso & Sami Zayn keeping Solo Sikoa at bay. Piper Niven also scored a nice upset over Charlotte Flair, which was pretty cool to see even if it feels like we never quite get enough of her momentum. Of course the big sizzling ember of the night was the in‑ring confrontation between John Cena and Logan Paul, where Cena’s promo fire and his Attitude Adjustment on Logan left even the jaded fans buzzing — and then Logan knocking Cena out to close the show, which was the sort of end‑of‑episode surprise that makes you rethink whether you’re hyped or annoyed. All told, SmackDown in Dublin was tasty chaos — a little overstuffed, a little frustrating, but with enough wow moments to keep you clicking for the next week.

The Motor City Machine Guns
Summary
Melo Don’t Miz (Carmelo Hayes & The Miz) walked into the 3Arena looking like a tag team that still isn’t totally sure it wants to be a tag team, but somehow they left with a win over the Motor City Machine Guns. The match had a decent pace with Shelley and Sabin trying to keep things crisp, doing their usual chain wrestling and quick tags, but Melo and Miz eventually found a way to capitalize when Hayes hit his signature Lung Blower on Alex Shelley. In true Miz fashion, he tagged himself in just in time to steal the pin on a dazed Sabin, much to the irritation of anyone who still thinks tag team IQ matters. It wasn’t pretty, it wasn’t perfect, but it was funny seeing Miz act like that was a masterclass when it was mostly chaos and opportunism.

Summary
This one had some real “wow” moments as Piper Niven pulled off a legitimately impressive win over Charlotte Flair — and not because WWE handed it to her on a platter. Flair started strong, even locking in the Figure-Eight Leglock and looking poised to put Piper away the traditional “Queen” way. Then things got ugly (in a good wrestling sense) when Alba Fyre distracted the ref just long enough for Chelsea Green to rake Charlotte’s eyes, breaking the hold and turning the momentum. Niven took full advantage, hitting a splash in the corner and following it up with a crisp Michinoku Driver to pin The Queen against the odds. For big Piper, this was the kind of match where her size actually looked like an asset instead of a punchline, and that Michinoku Driver finish was satisfying as hell.

The MFTs
Summary
The Street Profits’ matchup against JC Mateo and Tonga Loa was a bit of a rollercoaster, largely because of how much interference and entourage involvement was shoehorned into what should’ve been a straightforward tag bout. The Profits looked sharp early with Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins trading offense and keeping the tempo up, but the MFTs (Tonga Loa & JC Mateo) weren’t pushovers — they used their size advantage to rough up Ford and Dawkins on multiple tags. Just when it felt like the match might slip away, Sami Zayn and Jimmy Uso stormed ringside to neutralize United States Champion Solo Sikoa and Talla Tonga, allowing The Profits to finally get clean offense. Montez Ford eventually sealed the deal with his frog splash, and while the interference was annoying, the finish gave the crowd a reason to cheer loud and proud.

Summary
This one was a bit of a headache to watch if you’re a fan of coherent storytelling in a match, but it delivered on controversy at least. Becky Lynch and Nia Jax teamed up reluctantly, and you could tell from the jump that things were not going to go smoothly. Stratton and Jade Cargill stayed aggressive on both women early, and the turning point came when Becky Lynch — in her hometown of Dublin, of all places — just up and walked out on Nia mid‑match, leaving the big Irresistible Force alone against two heavy hitters. Jax valiantly tried to fight back, even kicking out after a Stratton Prettiest Moonsault Ever, but Cargill recovered just in time to hit a top‑rope frog splash and grab the win. So yeah, a messy match with a messy finish that feels like a rub to Stratton and Jade more than anything else.
