Event Recap
SmackDown on March 27 had that chaotic, anything-can-happen energy, even if not all of it totally clicked. The big story was the return of Cody Rhodes, who wasted no time going straight after Randy Orton, sparking a pull-apart brawl that actually felt heated and personal. Naturally, WWE couldn’t resist getting a little weird with it, as Jelly Roll got involved and ate an RKO—amusing in the moment, but also the kind of celebrity detour that distracts more than it adds. Earlier in the night, Orton made quick work of Matt Cardona, targeting the injured arm and never really giving him a chance to build momentum, which tells you exactly where Cardona sits in this pecking order. Sami Zayn bulldozed his way into the WrestleMania conversation with a chaotic, controversial win involving Carmelo Hayes and Trick Williams, and while it created buzz, it also left things feeling a bit overbooked. Giulia picked up a solid win over Tiffany Stratton in a non-title match that showcased both women well, even if it didn’t carry the stakes it could have. Elsewhere, the Bella Twins mixing it up with Alexa Bliss and Charlotte Flair leaned more into spectacle than substance, and while R-Truth and Damian Priest are still riding high as tag champs from last week, they didn’t exactly anchor anything here. That’s really the story of this episode—there’s energy, there are moments, but it all feels a bit crammed together. Still, Orton and Rhodes have real intensity brewing, and that might be enough to keep things on track heading into WrestleMania.

Segment recap
Randy Orton address his actions from the previous two weeks. He tells the crowd that the issue is not the voices in his head. Instead he claims that it's their voices--the fan's voices--and all of the voices backstage. They are the issue. He doesn't need Cody's blessing to be the best version of himself. He is back to listening to the voices in his head....and there is one other person that he is listening to. Someone that has his ear. But before he can reveal who was on the other end of those calls...Matt Cardona storms out the ring, mic in hand. He climbs in the ring and wallops Randy with the mic, straight to the head. Randy rolls to the outside and Matt Cardona urges him to get up and get back in the ring. We cut away before anything else happens.

Nick tells Sami he has to focus on the guys with momentum. As it stands, Sami Zayn won't be at WrestleMania. A devastated Sami Zayn sulks away, before turning around and attacking Trick Williams. Sami confidently tells Nick that he will have a match at WrestleMania. Sami clearly has a plan...

Summary
This match leaned more into familiarity and timing than anything overly flashy, and honestly, that worked. Nikki and Brie controlled long stretches with quick tags and double-team offense, while Charlotte and Bliss had their usual moments of control, especially when Charlotte slowed things down with her power game. Bliss added some opportunistic offense, but the Bellas kept things tight and eventually capitalized to get the win. The aftermath was just as busy as the match itself, with outside chaos breaking out and multiple teams getting involved, which kind of overshadowed the finish but also kept the segment feeling active.

Summary
Yes, this was a real match, and it went about how you’d expect. Jelly Roll actually got more offense than you might think, using his size to throw Wilson around and keep things simple. Wilson bumped around for him and tried to sneak in some offense, but this was clearly built to give the celebrity a moment. The crowd was into it, which helped, but from a pure match standpoint, it was more spectacle than anything else. Jelly Roll picked up the win, and that was that—harmless, a little goofy, and probably not something anyone will be rewatching.

Summary
This was the most chaotic match of the night, and not always in a good way. Hayes looked sharp early, wrestling like a confident champion and keeping Zayn on the defensive with quick, athletic offense. Zayn, meanwhile, leaned into the chaos, picking his spots and staying alive while things started to unravel around ringside. Trick Williams got involved, and that’s where everything really broke down—miscommunication, interference, and a general sense that control had been lost. Zayn capitalized on the confusion and stole the win to become the new champion. It was effective in terms of result, but getting there felt messy and a little overcooked.

Segment recap
A battered Jacob Fatu addresses his brawl with Drew McIntyre last week. He tells Drew that as long as he still has air in his lungs he will keep showing up week after week and dog-walk Drew's ass all over the ring. Drew limps out and says that Jacob started this when he accused Drew of a crime he didn't commit. But he reminds Jacob that Jacob is the criminal. He tells Jacob he stole everything from him. Stole his title. Stole his WrestleMania match. Before tension boil over, Nick Aldis comes out and tells them they both have April 18th to get healthy. Because they will both get their WrestleMania match. No DQs, no count outs. WWE won't be held responsible for what they do, because the match will be UNSANCTIONED!

Summary
This was one of the more balanced matches on the show, even without the title on the line. Stratton got a solid amount of offense in and didn’t feel out of her depth, matching Giulia’s pace early and landing some clean counters. Giulia, though, felt a step ahead the whole time—more composed, more deliberate, and just a little sharper when it mattered. The momentum swung back and forth, but once Giulia started stringing together her offense, it felt like the end was coming. She closed it out decisively, reinforcing her standing while still giving Stratton enough to look credible in defeat.

Summary
This one was pretty straightforward, even if it started with a little spark. Cardona came out swinging early, even cracking Orton with a microphone to get some payback from last week, but that just woke the Viper up. Orton slowed things down quickly, targeting the already injured arm and turning the match into a methodical beatdown. Cardona tried to fight through it and had a couple bursts of offense, but it never really felt like he had a real shot. Orton stayed in control, picked his spots, and eventually dropped him with an RKO to finish it clean. It did exactly what it needed to—Orton looked dangerous, Cardona looked tough for surviving as long as he did, but also clearly outmatched.
