Summary
Backlash opened with an absolute heater as Seth Rollins and Bron Breakker beat the brakes off each other for more than 20 minutes. Rollins came out flying early, trying to prove that he still had enough gas left in the tank to hang with WWE’s newest wrecking ball. Breakker, meanwhile, looked like a mutant created in a lab specifically to run through human beings. The match had a little bit of everything: Frankensteiner, Pedigree, Stomp, and multiple Spears that looked like they should be illegal in all 50 states. Rollins survived a ton of punishment and even countered one Spear into a Pedigree, but Breakker simply would not stay down. In the end, Rollins went to the top rope one time too many, and Breakker blasted him out of the air with a picture-perfect Spear before hitting another for the win. This was a statement victory for Breakker, and if you still aren’t buying stock in this guy, you probably still think fax machines are cutting-edge technology.

Summary
Sami Zayn came into this one with a serious chip on his shoulder, and for most of the match, it looked like he was going to take the United States Championship right back. Zayn was aggressive from the opening bell, landing a Blue Thunder Bomb and keeping Trick on the defensive. He even used the same candy cane kendo stick that had been part of this bizarre feud. Wrestling is weird, and honestly, that’s part of the charm. Lil Yachty once again inserted himself into the action, and that ended up being the difference. Zayn got a little too distracted trying to get his hands on Yachty and nailed him with a Helluva Kick on the floor. That brief detour gave Trick enough time to recover. When Zayn charged for another Helluva Kick, Trick ducked and connected with the Trick Shot to retain the title. It wasn’t flashy, but it was effective. Trick keeps rolling, and Sami once again gets stuck in the “great match, tough loss” department. Population: Sami Zayn.

Summary
This was the comedy match of the night, and thankfully it never pretended to be anything else. Danhausen introduced his mystery partner by unveiling a tiny clone named Minihausen, because apparently cloning technology now exists in WWE and is being used for very important reasons. Minihausen stole the show early with quick offense and enough charisma to make half the roster jealous. Miz and Kit Wilson tried to overpower the little guy, but chaos erupted at ringside when Miz attempted to use a fire extinguisher and ended up blasting himself and Wilson instead. Classic Miz. Danhausen capitalized by drilling Miz with a pump kick for the victory while Minihausen wiped out Wilson on the outside. It was goofy, ridiculous, and exactly the kind of nonsense that somehow works when Danhausen is involved.

Summary
If you like crisp wrestling and two performers beating the absolute hell out of each other, this was your match. IYO SKY and Asuka delivered exactly what everyone hoped for: a fast-paced, hard-hitting battle between two of the best wrestlers on the planet. Asuka targeted IYO with vicious strikes and submissions, including the Asuka Lock, while IYO answered with her trademark athleticism and fearless dives. One of the coolest spots came when Asuka attempted to use mist, only for IYO to block it. In the closing moments, IYO connected with a German suplex and followed up with her Over the Moonsault to score the win. After the bell the two embraced in a rare show of respect. No cheap angle, no nonsense, just two legends acknowledging they had put on a classic. Rumors are spreading about Asuka's future as she broke kayfabe and appeared to say goodbye.

Summary
Jacob Fatu looked like a man possessed in his first major singles title match, and for long stretches he had Roman Reigns on the ropes. Fatu overpowered the champion, absorbed punishment, and even locked in the devastating Tongan Death Grip. For a second, it looked like Roman’s reign might actually be over. But Roman Reigns remains the king of surviving by any means necessary. As Fatu tightened the grip, Roman used the referee as a shield to create an opening. Moments later, he sent Fatu into an exposed turnbuckle and connected with a Spear to steal the win and retain the World Heavyweight Championship. After the match, Fatu completely snapped. He laid out officials, choked out Roman again, and stood tall with the championship over his head. Roman left with the title, but Fatu left looking like an absolute monster. And if this feud is over, WWE needs to have its collective head examined.
