Event Recap
Friday’s February 21, 2025 WWE SmackDown turned into a pretty hype stop on the road to Elimination Chamber, largely because The Rock came back out of nowhere to set up big WrestleMania plans — and that right there was enough to start couch-yelling early. The card clocked in with a mix of solid matches and some wild interference, giving fans both satisfying wins and ugh moments to stew over. Jimmy Uso opened the night by taking down Drew McIntyre in gritty singles action, only to get post-match stomped by Drew in a beatdown that reinforced don’t think that was clean, buddy. A tag matchup featuring The Miz & Carmelo Hayes vs. R-Truth & LA Knight delivered fun back-and-forth action that ended with Miz & Hayes getting the W, and that pairing seems like it could spark something enjoyable if WWE leans into the chemistry. Tiffany Stratton defended her Women’s Championship against Candice LeRae in the mid-card, and after a back-and-forth scrap where both women hit some nice counters and aerial stuff, Stratton sealed it with her Prettiest Moonsault Ever for the pin. Meanwhile a WWE Tag Team Title match between the champs #DIY and Pretty Deadly devolved into absolute chaos when The Street Profits stormed the ring to wreck both teams — ending the match in a no contest and leaving all four guys looking like they want the gold even more. And in the main event tag, Braun Strowman & Damian Priest teamed up to take out Solo Sikoa & Jacob Fatu after a brutal affair that saw The Bloodline duo miscommunicate and leave themselves open — Priest hit South of Heaven on Sikoa for the decisive fall. SmackDown had its share of thunder and bumps, and while a few finishes made you scratch your head, there were plenty of moments to chew on heading into the next major premium event.

Summary
Jimmy Uso vs. Drew McIntyre — Singles Match This opener was all about Jimmy Uso trying to hang with the brute strength and relentless offense of Drew McIntyre. McIntyre looked dominant early, hammering Uso with big kicks and relentless pressure, but Jimmy kept rolling, ducking clotheslines and rolling up McIntyre when the Scot overextended. In classic “use your head” fashion, Uso scored a quick pinfall after catching McIntyre with a surprise roll-up, and it felt like the pop you hope for in a Friday night opener. The celebration was short-lived, though, because post-match McIntyre went ballistic and laid Jimmy out with the Claymore, reminding everyone that Drew isn’t here for good vibes — he’s here for damage

Summary
The Miz & Carmelo Hayes vs. LA Knight & R-Truth — Tag Team Match Next up Wyatt-like energy met unexpected teamwork as The Miz and Carmelo Hayes teamed up against LA Knight and R-Truth. Early on, Truth brought his vintage charisma and surprising offense, even hitting a Stundog Millionaire before tagging Knight in. But things got messy — which, okay, is basically part of Truth’s charm — and eventually Miz & Hayes seized control with slick double-team work and opportunistic offense. And to cap it off, Shinsuke Nakamura ran in and laid out LA Knight mid-match, which helped Miz & Hayes get the win. It wasn’t tidy, but it was fun chaos that made it feel like everyone was fighting for something, even if it looked a bit disjointed.

Summary
The Women’s Champion Tiffany Stratton squared up against Candice LeRae in a match that mixed grit with theatrical flair. Tiffany tried to control the tempo with sharp strikes and well-timed reversals, while LeRae brought scrappy intensity and high impact takedowns that kept her in this longer than some expected. Both women traded moments of offense, and just when it looked like LeRae might flip the script, Tiffany landed a running moonsault and cleaned up with a bridging pin for the victory. It wasn’t a long match, but it felt like Tiffany doing what she does — high-risk sky moves combined with smart ring awareness.

Summary
This one was wildly unpredictable. DIY (Johnny Gargano & Tommaso Ciampa) and Pretty Deadly went after the WWE Tag Titles with all the usual chops, tags, and near-falls you’d expect from two well-oiled teams. Both sides had their sequences and moments where it felt like someone might win the belts, but things totally fell apart when The Street Profits stormed the ring and wiped out both teams — sending the match into a no contest. Nobody won the titles, but the finish sure made it feel like the tag division is about to explode.

Summary
Damian Priest & Braun Strowman vs. Solo Sikoa & Jacob Fatu — Tag Team Match In the night’s closer, chaos finally got a somewhat concrete result as Damian Priest and Braun Strowman teamed up against Solo Sikoa and Jacob Fatu of The Bloodline. All four men brought big power offense — pops, spears, and bone-splitting slams — but Priest and Strowman managed to isolate Sikoa while Strowman absorbed Fatu’s best. After a hard-charging sequence and a few missed opportunities, Priest delivered South of Heaven for the pinfall, giving his team the win. It was a messy, pulse-pounding main event that felt like a bit of a “smackdown paint-by-numbers hard brawl,” but satisfying in its own rugged way by the end.
